All’s Fair in Love & Chelsea
By Andrea Ciriaco
I took a lot of thought and consideration into picking my valentine and finally I came to the conclusion that the only person I could truly see myself spending my valentine’s day with this year is Miss Chelsea Handler. Chelsea Handler will be premiering in her first silver screen role in the upcoming action-comedy “This Means War” starring Reese Witherspoon (Water for Elephants), Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises.)
“This Means War” tells the story of two CIA agents and best friends, Tuck (Hardy) and FDR (Pine) who declare war on one another when they figure out they are dating the same woman (Whiterspoon.) Handler plays Witherspoon’s friend, Trish, a bored-with-her-life wife and mother who gives Lauren advice on how to play dirty not only when it comes to juggling two men but also on how to pick between them.
Handler plays the complete opposite of her true self but from the looks of the previews I don’t think that is going to keep her from making her typical sarcastic or sex related comments. I think Whiterspoon and Handler will be very comical together and will play well off one another due to their comedic personalities.
Whiterspoon has played a number of characters of all different genres but she has always been able to play a comedy role very well. Who doesn’t love “Legally Blonde”? Pine and Hardy are not only very nice to look at but they both have the potential and appeal to play bad ass CIA agents. Hardy already has the muscles for this role due to his movie Warrior and Pine already has the military like status after playing the infamous Captain Kirk in Star Trek. I think these guys will balance each other out by having different perfect qualities individually making it even harder for Whiterspoon to pick.
What an impossible and horrible situation! This movie looks absolutely hilarious and very promising! Let’s hope this is only the beginning of Chelsea Handler’s movie career. “This Means War” opens in theaters Friday February 17th.
