Fashion on the streets of New York City

Main Tabs Image Most college students travel west to Cali or south to Florida for spring break, but I decided to take on the Big Apple. Fashion in a big city like New York City is much different than it is in Kent, Ohio. As I walked throughout the entire city I noticed a common theme: neutral colors, loose shirts and hair either very long or pulled back in a bun. Either way, women have their hair pulled away from their face. The style is known as “downtown chic.” Surprisingly, the homeless inspire this style. Another example of downtown chic is the colored pants. Us Kent Stater’s aren’t complete strangers to this fashion. Bright pants are trending everywhere; especially New York City.

While fashion is a statement of what kind of person you are, so is the type of sign you hold up. This veteran walks through Times Square for hours asking money for weed. Tourists surround him for pictures and believe it or not give him money.
